About us
CEni works with private sector organisations and public sector construction clients to improve performance in the construction industry. CEni provides independent advise, information, mentoring and support on procurement and performance measurement. We also provide business-to-business services and consultancy support to the construction sector.

CEni is part of a UK-wide network of regional centres, based within the School of the Built Environment at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.

CEni was established in 2007 with the support of key stakeholders in the construction industry and funding from the NI Executive administered through Central Procurement Directorate on behalf of the Department of Finance and Personnel.

Constructing Excellence is the successor to Rethinking Construction and the Construction Best Practice Programme.

Constructing Excellence in Northern Ireland (CEni) is a partnership between key stakeholders in the construction industry, Government Departments and the University of Ulster. CEni has a vision for a sustainable construction industry in NI that demonstrates world class standards and can compete in the global market.

CEni core aims:

Identify innovation in products and performance
Promote step change technologies and practices as exemplars to the industry
Seek to demonstrate the benefits of best practice to the industry to drive change
Encourage the NI construction industry to deliver best value through procurement ensuring a more sustainable built environment

Since CEni's launch in 2007, there has been significant growth and development for the organisation including:

Assisting the Strategic Investment Board (SIB) and the Central Procurement Directorate (CPD) to further embed Achieving Excellence through using performance measuring and benchmarking as part of the procurement process by developing consistency in the reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) across public sector clients
Engaging with several private sectors clients and consultants in providing workshops, conferences and advice services around the area of modern procurement through professional development programmes and a range of NEC3 Training initiatives
Implementing and managing a Demonstration Projects Programme
Hosting a range of showcase events and conferences including the Exemplar Showcase Event in June 2008, Modern Methods of Construction Conference in September 2007 - Smarter Way to Build, Modern Methods of Construction Conference in September 2008 - Building without Costing the Earth
